About our church

Our church has been serving Woodford since 1876 - now you can have a look at what goes on there.

Come in - it's good to see you!

Woodford Methodist Church draws people from Woodford, South Woodford, Woodford Green and Buckhurst Hill - all on the borders of Greater London and Essex.

Our Sunday morning family worship starts at 10.30 and lasts for about an hour. During the service we would typically sing five hymns - traditional or modern - pray for the world and its problems, far from Woodford and nearer to home, and listen to some thoughts from the preacher of the day.

Our morning service has a creche to care for children under five, and Sunday school for older ones. Everyone comes back into church before the end of the service. There are also evening services (6.30) - but not every week.

Methodist churches see themselves as part of a big family - the Connexion. Each has a Minister responsible for that church and probably some others too, but their own minister may take the morning service only once or twice each month. On other weeks the service is taken by visiting ministers or 'lay' preachers from our or another church.

So there's always something different going on and a new face in the pulpit.

But it's not just what happens on Sundays that's important.

House groups meet for Bible Study and throughout the week there are activities for church members and people living in the local community:

      • social and games groups
      • Brownies and Boys' Brigade
      • social group for adults
      • dancing school
      • and venues for other organisations to meet.

Come along one Sunday morning and find out what goes on. Or email us to find out more.
